Consortium

The H2REF-DEMO consortium is composed of seven partners from three European countries (France, Germany and Italy) bringing together the key experience, knowledge base and resources necessary for reaching the objectives of the project with the work-plan proposed.

It brings together three major European industrial players that are already global leaders in their respective fields (Hydrogen refuelling solution for HRS; hydraulic power systems, hydraulic accumulators, and high pressure components for Hydac, serially produced pressure vessels for Faber). The project will thus further reinforce Europe’s technological leadership in the development and deployment of breakthrough solutions for hydrogen refuelling.

HRS

With 10 years of experience at the heart of the hydrogen sector, HRS (Hydrogen Refueling Solutions) produces high capacity “turnkey” refuelling stations for clients in Europe and worldwide. HRS has a prominent position in the current European market. HRS has strong experience in developing a range of hydrogen refuelling and distribution stations delivering 200 kilogrammes to 2 tonnes of H2/day at a pressure of between 350 and 700 bar. HRS mass-produces hydrogen refuelling stations for heavy vehicles (haulage, buses, trains, refuse bins, etc.) and light vehicles (passenger cars), on its 4,000 sqm production facility in the business activity area of Grenoble. HRS manages a factory with high-tech facilities and extensive capabilities which can mass-produce hydrogen refuelling stations in just 8 weeks. HRS will develop the gas skid and work on the integration with the hydraulic skid. The full scale H2REF demonstrator will be installed in HRS production site in Grenoble and tested for one year.

Faber

For the shell of the accumulator, HYDAC will work very closely with his usual supplier FABER, a world class Italian shell manufacturer, the Leading Supplier of High-Pressure Gas Cylinders and Systems (Types 1, 2, 3 & 4) for the storage of high-pressure gases.

Unimore

The LIV – Lab Idraulica del Veicolo from University of Modena and Reggio Emilia is involved in close cooperation with UTC in the simulation and dimensioning of the whole refuelling process.

Unimore

H2Nova

Recognized expertise in hydrogen technologies H2NOVA, especially in the area of innovative high-pressure systems for the distribution and dispensing of hydrogen as an energy carrier, as well as in the steering of technological development and standards development activities

UTC

UTC is a public institution specialized in science and technology, the main missions of which are education, research and transfer of technology, with a University Chair in hydraulics.

This Hydraulics Chair consists above all of a high-level teaching program

and research in power hydraulics for 25 students. Its objective is also to promote power transmission technologies by fluid, participate in the animation of research for companies, but also to encourage and manage national and international scientific projects and cooperation or even to supervise partnership research.

In H2REF-DEMO UTC will closely cooperate with UNIMORE for process simulation and sizing of the system.

UTC

HYDAC

In the hydrogen infrastructure market, HYDAC, a Germany based international company delivering turn-key hydraulic and cooling aggregates, coolers for pre-cooling of the hydrogen, hydraulic units, sensors, testing and analysis systems, particle measurement technology, mounting technology, etc.

In H2REF-DEMO HYDAC will design and supply the whole hydraulic power pack. Furthermore, the required accumulators will also be designed and supplied by HYDAC, especially the bladder.
